Castles & Palaces, Churches & Chapels:
Great past – yesterday’s legacy to today. And a challenge for tomorrow ...
Latsch is steeped in history. The engravings on the menhir, the long stone, are 5000 years old. A “few years later” a handwritten original of the “Nibelungenlied” was found in Castle Obermontai. The winged altarpiece by Jörg Lederer dates from the early 16th century. Castles, churches and frescoes tell of a magnificent past around which stories have been woven: of Romans and knights, of painters from the Lombardy School and passionate artists. And some even of “Ötzi”, the man from the ice, the oldest resident of the Vinschgau Valley ... Hear all about it in guided tours. Or at traditional celebrations, where people “dance, sing and play the Tyrolean way”, at the castle celebration or concerts in the Renaissance arcades of Goldrain Castle. Many a tale was begun here ...
